Why Katy's Barking Gecko ?!
I love to travel, I love to cook and to try new recipes...
After returning from yet another trip to South Africa I browsed one of my Food Magazin subscriptions and
we started to envision how it might be to have a small, a very small restaurant. Somewhere in Australia or
South Africa.
Maybe 4 or 5 tables.
To be in the kitchen wearing t-shirt, shorts and flip-flops cooking for fun and nice people....
Doesn't that sound great ?!
We even came up with a name: Katy's Barking Gecko
Well there is no restaurant (so far....), but heaps of favourite recipes.

Toertchen, Toertchen or Tartlet, Tartlet - A Patisserie and Café in Cologne
Today I visited one of the secret gems in Colognes Café and Patisserie scene.
A small place with small, but delicious and artful Tartlets.
It's well hidden in one of the smaller side roads of Cologne. But it's well worth a visit.
Enter the tiny Café (only two tables) through the sliding door and you will be speechless with amazement.
The counter is full of little masterpieces.
Only the best ingredients, French fruit puree, finest chocolate, butter etc.
And very inventive combinations.
You find not lesser delicious chocolates (e.g. Whisky Truffles filled with real Scottish Laphroaig Whisky) in another counter and the newest addition : Macarons....
Now comes the hardest part of your visit....Making a decision....
Caution, these little masterpieces are addictive!
The Café opens at 11am and closes at 7pm on weekdays and 1pm to 5pm on Sundays...
But try to be there early or your favourite pieces might be already gone.
