Why Katy's Barking Gecko ?!

I love to travel, I love to cook and to try new recipes...

After returning from yet another trip to South Africa I browsed one of my Food Magazin subscriptions and

we started to envision how it might be to have a small, a very small restaurant. Somewhere in Australia or

South Africa.
Maybe 4 or 5 tables.
To be in the kitchen wearing t-shirt, shorts and flip-flops cooking for fun and nice people....

Doesn't that sound great ?!
We even came up with a name: Katy's Barking Gecko

Well there is no restaurant (so far....), but heaps of favourite recipes.

Weekend Snapshot No. 22

We live not too far from the river Rhine and the so called Rheinauhafen.
The Rheinauhafen is a 15.4 hectares (38 acres) urban regeneration project here in Cologne
It is located along the River Rhine between the Südbrücke (Southern Railway Bridge) and Severinsbrücke (Severin Bridge), just south outside of the inner city's historic old town.

Formerly a commercial harbour developed during the 1880s.
Today it is a modern complex of restaurants, upmarket flats and company offices, like the ones from Microsoft...

The redevelopment project started with a with an urban design competition during the early 1990s, with construction starting in 2002.
Interesting is the combination of remaining old structures and new modern architecture…
One of the old building is the old Harbour Administration Building, right beside the three Kranhäuser (crane houses), modern buildings that allegorizing the historical harbour cranes.
