Why Katy's Barking Gecko ?!

I love to travel, I love to cook and to try new recipes...

After returning from yet another trip to South Africa I browsed one of my Food Magazin subscriptions and

we started to envision how it might be to have a small, a very small restaurant. Somewhere in Australia or

South Africa.
Maybe 4 or 5 tables.
To be in the kitchen wearing t-shirt, shorts and flip-flops cooking for fun and nice people....

Doesn't that sound great ?!
We even came up with a name: Katy's Barking Gecko

Well there is no restaurant (so far....), but heaps of favourite recipes.

Weekend Snapshot No. 21

We love to visit markets while travelling whenever we have the opportunity to do so.
I took this photo at "Le Petit Marché de Saint-Denis" on the Island of La Réunion.
Wonderful fresh fruits and vegetables.
A lively and colourful little market.
It's amazing to discover all kinds of different fruits that are sometimes completely new to us.
Or to experience new tastes like Baby Pineapple with Chilli.
Delicious! But beware, very hot!
On the Island of La Réunion you find French cuisine, but more popular is the Creole cuisine.
Spicy and very tasty.
So you can buy chilli in huge quantities...

You find two markets in Saint-Denis.
The Grand Marché, situated at the corner of rue Maréchal Leclerc and rue Gasparin, selling fruits, vegetables and mainly handicraft from Madagascar.
Opening hours : 6 am to 6 pm.
And the Petit Marché, on the corner of Rue Maréchal Leclerc and Boulevard de l’Océan where you find all kinds of fruits, vegetables and meat.
