Why Katy's Barking Gecko ?!

I love to travel, I love to cook and to try new recipes...

After returning from yet another trip to South Africa I browsed one of my Food Magazin subscriptions and

we started to envision how it might be to have a small, a very small restaurant. Somewhere in Australia or

South Africa.
Maybe 4 or 5 tables.
To be in the kitchen wearing t-shirt, shorts and flip-flops cooking for fun and nice people....

Doesn't that sound great ?!
We even came up with a name: Katy's Barking Gecko

Well there is no restaurant (so far....), but heaps of favourite recipes.

Weekend Snapshot No. 13

While travelling through Kruger National Park, you have many possibilities for a stop and a snack.
Either you cater for yourself or you can buy food ready to eat.
There are even two Picnic Spot that have their own specials.
Like at Nkuhlu Picnic Spot, where you can taste the real Buffalo Pie.

About nearly three years ago we discovered something new at Tshokwane Picnic Spot.
Here they had build a "stall" where you can buy different kinds of Boerewors right from the fire.
Here is an example how to make Boerewors, although I am sure there are hundreds of different recipes in South Africa.
At Tshokwane they are either served as Boerewors Rolls or with Sheba (a Sauce mainly consisting of tomatoes and onions) and Pap.
We tried it and it was delicious.

Already looking forward to our next visit here....
